Newsbrief by Brian James Kirk on Thursday October 08, 2009.
Samsung is demonstrating 4G mobile broadband base stations that utilize Mobile WiMAX Release 2 IEEE 802.16m technology, which provide data speeds that are four times faster than current WiMAX IEEE 802.16e technology. The company is currently showing the new technology, its throughput, and Release 1 backwards compatibility at the ITU Telecom World 2009 show in Geneva, Switzerland.
Samsung plans to provide trials for Release 2 by late 2010 with Clearwire in the U.S., Yota in Russia, and UQ Communications in Japan.
